03/02/12 The EPTA UK piano competition first round takes place on Sunday March 11th. I am pleased to say that 8 of us are entering, ranging from grade 1 upwards and ages from 8-57. It's a lovely friendly event and well worth taking part in. Special mention to Judith who aged 65 has taken 3 exams in under two years and just got an amazing set of grade 5 results. 01/12/11 'Music of the Month' piece added - The Christmas Song played by Greg Howlett 27/11/11 Yesterday I went to the annual ABRSM conference 'Inspiring success - new ideas in music teaching'. Spending the day with 500 teachers and motivating presenters has given me lots of new teaching ideas and inspiration to try out new methods. 22/11/11 If you think you are too old to play the piano then here are some interesting facts for you: 65% of my pupils are adults with 50% of them being aged 50+ and my oldest most experienced pupil being 86. 01/11/11 'Music of the Month' piece added - Prelude in C sharp minor by Rachmaninov (played by Moiseiwitsch) 01/10/11 Welcome to my newest pupil who is 86 and has several teaching and performance diplomas for brass and woodwind and is now keen to improve his piano playing. 01/10/11 'Music of the Month' piece added - Summer Calypso by Andrew Downes (played by Duncan Honeybourne) 11/09/11 Thanks to all my amazing adult pupils who took part in the second piano soiree last night. It was a fantastic evening where pupils from beginners upwards played their favourite pieces of music and then enjoyed the buffet and wine that followed.
